At Footwear etc., we’ve always believed in taking steps that matter—whether it’s helping customers find the perfect shoes for their lifestyle or supporting a healthier planet. That’s why we’re proud to announce our partnership with Sneaker Impact, a sustainability-driven organization revolutionizing how we deal with post-consumer sneakers and apparel.

Reducing Waste, One Pair at a Time

Every year, millions of sneakers end up in landfills, contributing to pollution and wasted resources. With Sneaker Impact, we’re turning worn-out footwear into new opportunities. Through in-store collection bins at select Footwear etc. locations, we invite our customers to donate their gently used sneakers instead of throwing them away.

From there, Sneaker Impact works its magic—sorting, processing, and repurposing the shoes into high-purity materials like rubber, EVA, TPU, and PU granules. These materials are used in a wide range of applications, from sports surfaces to construction and even new footwear.

Creating Global Impact

Beyond recycling, Sneaker Impact supports micro-entrepreneurs in over 30 countries, helping them repair and resell wearable items. It’s a win-win: reducing global waste while creating meaningful economic opportunities in underserved communities.

Measuring Real Change

What sets Sneaker Impact apart is their commitment to data-driven environmental accountability. For every pair of sneakers collected, they track the estimated kilograms of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) diverted from landfills.

Just last month, thanks to your participation, we helped divert an estimated 2,498 kilograms of CO2e from entering the landfill. That’s a powerful step toward Net Zero—and proof that small actions can lead to big change.
